Appointment Times
Appointments may be booked by phone or in person from 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday.
When making appointments please:
- State the full name of the person to be seen.
- Where possible, plan the appointment ahead of time;
- Assess the time you may think necessary for the appointment as full medical checks, insurance examinations, complex medical problems all require extra time so a double appointment should be booked. If you are unsure about needing a long appointment please ask our receptionist.
Urgent medical problems will be dealt with promptly, and we keep a few times open for this daily. Urgent cases can also be seen at the Hospital Out patients Department.
We endeavour to see each person on time but somtimes there are unavoidable delays as the doctors also attend hospital patients and emergencies as necessary. Khancoban
The clinic is located in the Khancoban shopping centre and and is open between 9:30am and 11:30am every Wednesday. Appointments should be booked in advance through the Corryong Medical Centre, but urgent appointments may be available during the morning by phoning (02)6076 3290
After Hours
The doctor on call is available at all times after hours for emergencies only and can be contacted through the Accident and Emergency Department on 6076 3200
Fees And Accounts
This practice routinely bulk bills, therefore your Medicare Card will be required with all consultations. If you require an insurance medical examination, or work related medical examination, or other such as scuba diving you may be required to pay the full consultation fee. Any other service not involving direct contact with the doctor is not covered by Medicare and therefore may also require a fee, eg. For limited cases of repeat prescriptions without seeing the doctor. The practice charges a fee of $5.
Availability Of Doctors By Phone
The Doctors are happy to discuss some medical matters over the phone during normal surgery hours, but this is not a replacement for face to face consultations.
It is not always convenient, however, for the doctor to talk to you straight away, unless it is a medical emergency, and you may be asked to phone back at a more convenient time, or to speak to the nurse practitioner.
Home Visits
If it is impossible for you to attend the clinic, visits may be arranged in certain circumstances, by telephoning the receptionist, who will consult with your doctor. In general, if you are severely ill you should go to the Hospital, rather than arrange a home visit. Home visits are usually conducted with the district nurse.
Results
X-ray, pathology and pap-smear results should generally be discussed with your doctor / clinic nurse, thus a follow up appointment should be made at the time of the test or X-ray.
Sterilisation
All needles, scalpels and some instruments (surgical knives) used in this practice are disposable ie. used once and then disposed of appropriately. All other Surgical instruments are sterilised by autoclaving after each and every patient.
Referrals
The doctors at this surgery will refer, when appropriate, to the best available specialist in the area. If you desire to see a particular specialist for some reason it is best to discuss this with your doctor first so that the appropriate documentation can be organised, and the appropriate specialist seen.
Doctors and clinic staff can also refer you to the other service providers such as Diabetes and Asthma Educators, Counsellor, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Home and Community Care Service or District Nurse, all of which are available in Corryong.
Immunisations
We strongly encourage all children to complete their immunisation including Hep B, all of which can be arranged at the Medical Centre. Adult booster vaccinations, flu and pneumonia vaccinations, and travel vaccination advice are also available.
